still recovering from yesterday's near miss, but will play two horses from hollywood today.

r6: woody haze. this is a very salty group of turf claimers and i'm taking a price on the classy woody haze, who i think is sitting on a good one for pupye. valdivia is no great shakes, particuarly on closers (anybody want to bet me he's at least 3 wide on the turn for home?), but the pace looks strong enough to set up for his late kick.

r8: bobby dazzler. rare to end a weekday card with a maiden special on the turf, but this race is very weak for an open company special. 'dazzler ran evenly in his first race spriting and now makes the important surface switch. he's by excellent turf sire, gone west, out of a theatrical mare. on the weeds for this guy. is the 6/1 morning line likely? No, but i'll take 4/1 or better.

he looks sort of overmatched in here. omar will probably try to send from the rail and hope for the best.

i really hate valdivia sometimes. instead of biding his time behind horses, he lets patrick force his hand with albatross and he goes 3 wide into a slow pace (any takers on my 3-wide bet?), makes the lead midstretch and flattens out. man, valdivia is like clockwork. at 7/1, he was too much value to pass up. i'd bet a ton of money that if solis or nakatani rode that horse, he'd be in the winner's circle right now.
